Alayna's Fall from the Attic

This week after the kids had their home-schooling lessons, one of the triplets, Alayna fell about 15 feet from our vaulted ceilings around 1pm.  I was walking into the room when she came down. The ceiling literally opened up. I just screamed and screamed. She came down so fast, it was a split second & she was right there, but this white fuzzy snowy insulation just kept falling over top of her. I saw her hit the chair and then the tile floor.  I just stood there paralyzed, Frozen. Screaming!

Al was cutting branches off the trees out front. He burst in the front door and scooped her up in his arms. He yelled for me to call 911. Finally, I was snapped into the room, into reality. The kids were all crying.  All we could see at that time was that her wrist was really deformed. Her chin was bleeding, Eyes Wide Open. She had broken the fall with her hand. I just saw my baby hit the chair and then the floor. I mean I just stood there in shock. I answered 911's questions, I don't remember what they were, But finally the ambulance arrived.  I rode to the hospital with her. They thought her neck was broken so they took us in, got a head CT and X-rays of her entire body. Started an IV, gave her pain meds.  Right away they said they were sending us down town.

Her neck was not broken!! But her jaw is fractured. One of her teeth are broken, her wrist is broken in multiple places. They were able to set that. They were able to set her wrist with out surgery under anesthesia, it’s a nasty dislocation but because young bones are soft they can be reset and heal in the cast without opening it all up, that went so well.  They saw on The X-ray it lined up nicely

Wrist was broken in multiple places

I’m glad we were able to have her home sleeping comfortably with us after just about 12 hours in the hospital.
I’m so thankful Alayna is Alive, but I know her little body has been through a lot. She still needs healing. All of the craziness in the middle of the corona virus and the last place I wanted to end up was a hospital.

Our Girl is Strong & Will make a full recovery!
We are Thankful, Grateful & Blessed! We have really been so touched by all our friends & family who have reached out. Our neighbors who brought her flowers, cards, gifts. All the texts, messages & prayers.
~*Especially appreciative of all the compassion from the medical staff at Herman Memorial Southeast & Downtown. The Doctors & Nurses. The Ambulance EMT's who took great care of our little sweetheart.

 * Update We were able to get the ceiling fixed in record time! I am so glad, too. Now Alayna no longer has to look up feeling any guilt or fear. You can't even tell.  Alayna is a fighter and she will recover just fine.

Home-schooling Triplets & Twins During The Covid-19 Stay Home Order

Well, there's was a reason I chose NOT to homeschool my triplets & twins.
Hats Off to those Parents who do!
It's just that I am not Patient, I am not Smart, and I am not Qualified! But really, we are making a legitimate go at this, honestly, its been a rollercoaster.

I knew when the Corona Virus locked us in our houses in March that we could not allow the kids to play video games for 6 months until school started again in August. I did want them to have some form of learning. I just did not know I would be forced to be the one to do it.

This is not school, its not summer break and yet its not even true homeschool. We do what is assigned or they will not pass.

My main goal here is to help them learn some skills and make memories. We have done dishes by hand, found random seeds in the yard around the house and they have learned how to load the clothes washer, dryer and dishwasher!
They also have an hour online in a Zoom class with their teacher and friends. Their teacher will often read or play songs, games or videos she chooses from YouTube. We've even had a teacher dump freezing cold water on her head if the students beat her in a game. They love those sessions.

The key to spur of the moment home-school is just keep them on a schedule. If not, they will eat you out of house and home! The boredom will drive them right into the fridge. So keep their brains occupied or to the pantry the will go. And we are so thankful to the school district for continuing to offer meals to the kids. They continue to get free breakfast and lunch everyday that's not a holiday. And because we are on lock-down no one has to go except my husband.

This is 3 days worth of Food for Triplets & Twins!

We Miss Our Teachers SOOO Much!!!

Even when I feel the Weight of the World on my shoulders. I know that what is important is, we are all safe in our home. I show the kids love. They do have fun, and that we are bonding and getting closer with all this time spent together as a family.
